Better Call Saul has been officially renewed by AMC and will return for a sixth and final season

During the show’s panel at the TCA winter press tour, AMC and showrunner Peter Gould that the announced the highly regarded Breaking Bad prequel would return sometime in 2021 and would consist of 13-episodes. This news comes roughly one month ahead of the release of Season 5, which launches with a special two-day premiere event on February 23 and 24. The upcoming fifth season will consist of 10 episodes.

Here’s what Sarah Barnett, president of AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios, had to say following the news of Better Call Saul’s renewal:

“Greenlighting a prequel to one of the most iconic series in television history is one of the boldest swings that AMC has ever taken. But, thanks to the creative genius of [co-creators] Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, it has also been one of the most rewarding. It has been an absolute joy to collaborate with the extraordinarily talented team on Better Call Saul, which — five seasons in — continues to deliver some of the best storytelling and most beautifully nuanced performances on television today. We congratulate Vince, Peter, our producers, writers and cast on a remarkable run and look forward to sharing this final chapter with fans.”
